Lazer Vento Kineticore helmet offers advanced crash protection technology, aerodynamic design, and lightweight construction
9.8
Safety and Protection
This helmet as a 5-star Virginia Tech rating for helmet protection. Instead of MIPS, it has an integrated Kineticore technology and it consist of EPS foam crumple zones built in directly into the helmet instead of having a secondary liner.
9.3
Fit and Comfort
The Vento has a top mount ScrollSys belt which replaces the dial and places right on top of the helmet making it nice and flat. It has a big large belt that can easily be adjusted while riding. It has a standard nylon straps with the Lazer buckle which is a little bit hard to squeeze as it is smaller than other buckles from other brands.
9.3
Ventilation
Although the helmet looks like and aero helmet, it actually has 13 vents and many of them are almost looks concelled and smaller. Without the MIPS liner or anything to block the front wide vents, it really lets the air through. On the side it also has this almost concealed vents but when you look closer there is a one vent with 2 little ports on the side. It also have this little scoops on the top which are small and stuttle and blends in the helmet.

Aerodynamics
It also has dimples on the side (which you typically see on the Zipp wheels) and they help with some speed and aerodymanics and it gives a more distinctive look. The helmet doesn't have a circular shapre but rather more or an ellipse or oval shape which is more tapered in the rear with the small vents all the way around.
9.5
Weight
As for the weight, the claimed weight is 290 grams for a medium and the actual weight of this helmet was 282 grams.
9.2
Style and Design
The Lazer Vento was the default helmet featured in Zwift and it replaces the bullet. Lazer offers Vento in a couple of variations. There are four total colors of this helmet. The helmet actually has a 3-piece shell design and fully finished on the interior which you really want to see especially at this price point.

Safety and Protection
Lazer brought out their very own version of a rotational impact technology and it is called Kineticore and it differs slightly from MIPS of Wavecell. It is all in built within the helmet because Lazer see a few compromises with MIPS. The interior of the helmet is made up of lots of little blocks of EPS foam that are designed to twist, crumple and break away on impact sending the energy of the shock across the whole helmet.

Fit and Comfort
The helmet has the new ScrollSys system. It looks like a honeycomb textured converyor belt that you push down to tighten and push up to tighten. Problem arises when you have sweaty fingers and it becomes tricky to pull it down or push it up and sometimes it becomes a two-hand operations as you would need to hold the front of the helmet then adjust otherwise the helmet will shift. The retention device have 3 position so you can lower or heighten the cradle at the back of the head.
9.4
Ventilation
Since there is spaces between the EPS foam blocks, it allows air to flow through inside the helmet nicely. And since there is less EPS foam inside the helmet, generally it translates to a slightly lighter helmet overall.
9.1
Aerodynamics
Designed in sprint position at a 15 degree angle with a reduced frontal surface for superior aerodynamic performance
9.4
Weight
Claimed weight for small is 260 grams and 290 grams for medium and large. The medium Vento is 90 grams lighter over the Bullet 2.0 MIPS it replaced which is a huge weight savings.
9
Style and Design
As with any top-end helmet, the Vento has a sunglasses port with rubberized grip however, it does seems a little bit wide and it bends the frames of any sunglasses i tried in there. It also has an optional integrated tail light that you can attached on the led light port at the back of the helmet

Safety and Protection
Inside the helmet, the little blocks will crush in a linear impact and then will break off in a rotational impact. It has a same technology on a crash crumple zone of a vehicle.
9
Fit and Comfort
They replaced the little dial which used to adjust the helmet with a supposedly larger and easier to move flat interface which I found it is not easy to move and sometimes it needs two hands to operate. One thing great about Lazer is the retention system takes the whole head as a circumference instead of pushing the back of your head to the front of the helmet.
9.4
Ventilation
Ventilation-wise, being an aero helmet, with the removal of MIPS inside, it makes the helmet scoop more air inside and force the hot air out without sacrificing protection.
9.3
Aerodynamics
The reason why I am excited about this helmet is the aerodynamics and because it is far more important and far more relevant than weight.
9.3
Weight
With Lazer creating the Kineticore proprietary system in replacement of MIPS, they have also significantly reduced the weight of the helmet as well. Actual weight of the Bullet 2 which the helmet it is replacing is 343 grams. The weight of the Ventro is at 272 grams.

Style and Design
If you have a fairly fragile sunglasses frame, then you may not want to put it in the helmet as it might break the frame of the glass.
Sit back, relax, and let me deconstruct the marvel that is the Lazer Vento Kineticore Helmet after analyzing three YouTube videos hosted by experts. Let me break it into understandable chunks for you.
Safety and Protection
Sporting a 5-star Virginia Tech rating for helmet protection, the Lazer Vento Kineticore helmet impresses right from the get-go. It eschews the MIPS system, instead incorporating Kineticore technology—essentially, EPS foam crumple zones integrated directly into the helmet. This design feature—akin to the crash crumple zones in vehicles—is a unique spin on rotational impact technology. The tiny blocks of EPS foam inside the helmet are designed to twist, crumple, and break away on impact, effectively dissipating the energy across the entire helmet.
Fit and Comfort
The Lazer Vento stands out with its innovative ScrollSys system, a belt-like adjustment system mounted at the top of the helmet. This replaces the traditional dial system, but can be a little finicky when operating with sweaty fingers. That said, the ScrollSys system envelops the entire head circumference, rather than merely pushing from the back, providing a more comfortable fit. The helmet also has adjustable nylon straps, albeit with a somewhat small buckle, which can make fastening a tad challenging.
Ventilation
Despite resembling an aero helmet, the Lazer Vento houses 13 vents, some almost concealed, which facilitate impressive ventilation. The removal of the MIPS liner means there’s nothing obstructing the front vents, allowing for enhanced airflow. With spaces between the EPS foam blocks, air circulation within the helmet is notably efficient, contributing to its lightweight feel.
Aerodynamics
The Lazer Vento’s aerodynamics are quite interesting. Notably, it has dimples on the side—similar to those on Zipp wheels—which not only add a distinctive look but also contribute to improved speed and aerodynamics. The helmet features an elliptical rather than circular shape, with a tapering rear and small vents all around, designed for optimal performance when in a 15-degree sprint position.
Weight
The Lazer Vento impressively undercuts its declared weight. While the claimed weight for a medium-sized helmet is 290 grams, actual measurements come in slightly less at 282 grams. This weight reduction is a significant step up from the helmet it replaces, the Bullet 2.0 MIPS, marking a substantial saving of 90 grams.
Style and Design
The Lazer Vento, which serves as the default helmet on Zwift, comes in a choice of four colors and sports a 3-piece shell design, providing a polished look, particularly given its price point. It also has a sunglasses port with a rubberized grip, although this seems to be a bit wide and can potentially distort the frames of some sunglasses. An additional perk is the optional integrated tail light, which can be attached to the rear of the helmet.
Overall Notes
The Lazer Vento Kineticore helmet, with its advanced crash protection technology, aerodynamic design, and lightweight construction, is indeed a compelling offering. The switch from MIPS to their proprietary Kineticore technology has allowed Lazer to equip a wide range of helmets, from kids to top-end road and mountain bike helmets, with the superior protection accorded a 5-star rating from Virginia Tech. Laden with features, the Lazer Vento sets a high bar in the realm of helmets.
