Safety and Protection
The MIPS system is the industry standard for reducing head injury in the event of a crash and this helmet has been awareded as well by Virginia Tech 5-star best available protection rating.
9.1
Fit and Comfort
Lazer G1 uses the Advance RollSys System which is different from the previous dial fit system of other brands. The straps are easy to adjust and there is nothing much you can do straight out of the box.
9
Ventilation
The G1 has 22 vents it covers the front and side vents to protect your head from rain and cold or to gain an aerodynamic advantage.
9
Aerodynamics
The helmet was very lightweight just like the hairnet back in the 80's. The helmet is very airy due to the vents and definitely you feel the difference.
9.2
Weight
The helmet weighs 224 grams vs 275 grams of my current Giro Scythe. Both are size large
8.9
Style and Design
It comes with a bag perfect for transporting the helmet when not in use. The strap is also looped unlike others which uses 2 straps on their helmets and that is a very neat touch. Aesthetic-wise this G1 is very good.

It is one of the best helmets i've tried. The weight is great and some of the downsides is the MIPS version is a little heavier and the ventilation is not as good.

It is one of the best helmets i've tried. The weight is great and some of the downsides is the MIPS version is a little heavier and the ventilation is not as good.
9
Safety and Protection
The MIPS version has a traditional MIPS liner which act as an impact protection system when you crash.
9
Fit and Comfort
It does have the RollSys technology which is the little dial on the top of the helmet. The way it works is there is a wire that will run through all the way around the helmet so as you turn the dial, the wire pull the whole cradle evenly securing your head. In this way you will get even pressure around your head with this system.
8.8
Ventilation
The ventilation is better than the Z1 it replaced and when it gets really hot, the MIPS liner would impede the ventilation and that is the problem that Lazer is trying to solve as of now.
8.9
Aerodynamics
This helmet has a smaller frontal area that has a great effect on aerodynamics. There is also an "aeroshell" that you can buy as an extra that you can pop on top of the helmet to make it more aerodynamic. Also it can serve as a rain shield or if it is freezing cold outside, it can help your head to keep warm.
8.9
Weight
This helment weighs in at 265 grams for the MIPS version and 220 grams for the non-MIPS version. Compare to the Z1, the G1 is around 25 grams lighter.
8.8
Style and Design
The helmet shape is more oval so if you have a round shape head, there is a chance that the helmet will not fit great for you. The helmet as well does support sunglasses but however it doesn't hold the glasses as well as the other helmets in the Lazer lineup.

Safety and Protection
The reason as well i picked this helmet is it did get five stars in the Virginia Tech rating scale and that is significant because the way they are testing the helmets is very independent.
9.1
Fit and Comfort
The helmet is so comfortable and i have been able to wear this on long cross country rides without any issues. Part of that is the fact that Lazer gives you two sets of pads for the inside. They gave you a race set, which is a lower weight and they gave you a comfort set which is a bit more comfortable.
9.1
Ventilation
The top reason i've pick up this helmet is it is so ventilated.
9
Aerodynamics
Lazer G1 MIPS helmet is not marketed as an aerodynamic helmet, it does offer some features that can enhance aero performance, such as compatibility with the Aeroshell and a lightweight construction
9
Weight
The helmet is extremely light and it comes in at 235 grams. That is pretty light compare to other XC style/road gravel helmet out there.

Lazer offers G1 in a multitude of color to choose from.
Curious about the Lazer G1 MIPS Helmet? Wonder no more, as I delved into three YouTube videos to unveil the secrets of the experts. I’ll simplify it so you can grasp it easily.
Safety and Protection
The Lazer G1 MIPS Helmet prides itself on an excellent safety record. It features the industry-standard MIPS system designed to reduce head injury in the event of a crash. This helmet’s safety credentials have earned it a 5-star rating from Virginia Tech, their highest level of protection rating. The MIPS version of the helmet contains a traditional MIPS liner, providing a reliable impact protection system.
Fit and Comfort
The Lazer G1 MIPS Helmet employs the innovative Advance RollSys System, which sets it apart from the traditional dial fit system used by other brands. The helmet’s straps are easily adjustable, requiring minimal setup out of the box. The RollSys technology, represented by a small dial atop the helmet, works by controlling a wire that runs around the helmet. As you turn the dial, the wire adjusts the cradle evenly around your head, ensuring balanced pressure and a comfortable fit. Moreover, Lazer includes two sets of pads for the helmet’s interior—a race set for lightweight and a comfort set for extra cushioning. This allows for customized comfort even during lengthy cross-country rides.
Ventilation
The G1 MIPS Helmet has 22 vents, including front and side vents, offering optimal ventilation and protection against elements like rain and cold. Compared to the previous Z1, this helmet has superior ventilation. However, the MIPS liner could potentially obstruct ventilation, an issue Lazer is currently looking to solve.
Aerodynamics
Despite not being marketed explicitly as an aerodynamic helmet, the Lazer G1 MIPS offers a few features to enhance aero performance. It is lightweight and airy, a welcome trait that harks back to the hairnet helmets of the ’80s. Additionally, it has a smaller frontal area beneficial to aerodynamics, and is compatible with the Aeroshell. This optional addition can make the helmet more aerodynamic, serve as a rain shield, or help keep your head warm in freezing conditions.
Weight
The G1 MIPS Helmet is very lightweight, weighing in at 224 grams for the MIPS version and 220 grams for the non-MIPS version. This makes it around 25 grams lighter than the previous Z1 model. Compared to similar helmets on the market, such as the 275-gram Giro Scythe, the G1 stands out as a remarkably lightweight choice.
Style and Design
The Lazer G1 MIPS Helmet comes with a stylish transport bag and a neatly designed looped strap, as opposed to the two straps found on other helmets. It boasts an aesthetically pleasing design, available in a wide array of colors. However, the helmet’s more oval shape might not fit perfectly on round heads. While it does support sunglasses, it may not hold them as well as other helmets in the Lazer lineup.
Overall Notes
The Lazer G1 MIPS Helmet shines with its 5-star safety rating, exceptional ventilation, and lightweight design. Despite the MIPS version being slightly heavier and having less optimal ventilation, it remains one of the best helmets on the market. With a weight that’s 51 grams lighter than many comparable models, it feels like you’re wearing practically nothing, making for an impressively comfortable riding experience.
